{the "PARTAY"}

Once Jake got in we decided to have Luke's official Birthday party. We had family and friends come over to eat pizza and have delicious Costco chocolate cake.
For Lukie's cake we decided to go easy since we weren't at home and didn't have a lot of time.

I came up with the idea of making cupcakes and putting them together as a caterpillar. So I cooked them up and Jake did the decorating. He always does the finishing touches because he is way better at it than I am. Seriously! He even made the frosting look like a furry caterpillar.
We had the little get together at the Rabe's. Thanks Brad and Ann for hosting and getting the delicious pizza. There was plenty of food. Even for our Joel.

After everyone ate we got out the candle and began the "song." Luke just stared at the candle and all the kids literally hovered over the cupcakes to be the one to blow out the candle. Nolan was sporting some interesting red cowboy hat that was downstairs in the play stuff.
He and his cousin Charlie were in all sorts of hats.
Luke, of course, didn't blow out the candle. It was the help of Nolan's spit and Ashton's power to get it out. Gotta love kids
The night was so much fun for everyone, everyone except poor Luke. He was still so sick! He still had a very high fever and no symptoms. It was so sad to see him just lay there and not smile, not walk, not interact with anyone.
We were lucky to have people come regardless of Luke being sick. Not very many kids came because parents didn't want theirs to get sick, which is totally understandable. But my sister and her kids braved it and probably wished they wouldn't have because when we left back home she called me and told me her kids were sick. Oops, sorry.

Hopefully Luke will have a better second birthday with no illness!
We will be lucky to get that.
Funny thing about the whole party was the boy cousins. They were all in to the hats. Charlie and Nolan round around in their fireman hats all night long.

I would go downstairs every now and again to check on them and make sure they weren't doing something they shouldn't be and every time they would be in the candy. I'm sure they had pounds of it in their tummies. Jake and I would even put it out of reach. But the older and more wiser Ashton would get it down for them. Those boys are trouble when they get together. It is so fun to see how they love playing together though. It will be interesting to see them in the years to come. Pretty soon Lukie will get to join in on the fun.
Happy Birthday little guy! Hopefully you will have a better one next year. We are so glad to have you in our family. You are the life of the party. I wish I could keep you this age forever. I feel like you grew up way to fast.
Some things that Luke is doing these days are: walking, and almost running, everywhere. Says mama, dada, yes, this, ba, and growls at you when he is excited. It is the cutest thing! He WAS a good eater before he got really sick in Ut. Now he is as picky as can be with food. He does love honey bee's, cold cereal, oatmeal, and dried blueberries. He has the cutest little laugh. He can give high fives and loves to wave. But most of all he just loves to follow his big brother around. It is really cute to watch. Nolan is even trying to act like Luke sometimes. We love you Luke!
