The 4th was a good day. It started off with Jake getting home around 8:30 am from being on-call at the hospital for over 24 hours doing his ob/gyn rotation. He was so tired but didn't want to miss the Tosa Parade.
We walked to the parade, which was perfect, and sat, more like stood, right at the very end of the parade where it turns off. A perfect spot. I love the Tosa parade!
Nolan had been eying a cop car that was parked behind us and the police officer was kind enough to let Nolan sit in it and play around. Just about the whole time he said, "wooooh, powice car!" Loved it! I thought the highlight of the parade was the dancing granny's. Never seen that before but now I know what I have to aspire to.
After the parade Jake and Richard assembled our new grill! We have been wanting one for so long and had never been successful at the rummage sales so we just went halfsies with the Leake's. It is a beauty.
Of course by now it is time for Nolan and Luke to get a much needed nap and also for Jake to fall asleep. Mind you, he still hasn't sleep since his over night at the hospital. I don't know how he does it. So i put all the boys down and just relaxed. My kind of livin'.
By the time the boys had woken up it was time for the "cul-de-sac of fire!" All the neighbors and friends came over and we grilled and had delicious food and let the kiddies run around. There was some serious games of Crockett going on between the boys. The ladies, of course, just mingled.
Lukie and Nolan were great. I love the fourth of July!!! I think that is my favorite, next to Christmas, holiday's.
By the end we were all too tired to go to any fireworks. I told Jake that we need to at least one year hit some fireworks. What is the fourth without them, right? So hopefully next year we can brave it with the two boys. All-in-all the day couldn't have been better.
We did it! The year of walking!
