{MVP}

Every summer Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University Dental School have a softball game against each other. What's so fun about this game is that they have a fun team that plays earlier in the day and them some oldies that play and then the competitive team plays right before the Milwaukee Brewer's game. We don't get to play in Brewer's stadium but there is a smaller field right next to it in the parking lot. So there are tons of people tale gating, relaxing and watching these games. I love it!!
Jake was lucky enough to play on the competitive team this year. It was a perfect day. The temperature was awesome! The band was so fun to hear throughout the game. It was so intense I hope that I can explain it well.
Marquette was first up to bat. The very first pitch was a home run. I swear everyone in the stands were so mad and thought the game was already over. Next MCW came up and answered back with a homer. It was getting good.
Then at the top of the 2nd Marquette had a break away inning. By the end of it the score was Marquette 6, MCW 1. Really this was not good.
It was Jake's turn, finally, to bat and there were, I think, 2 runners on base. He hit a line drive and made it to first. We were able to get a couple of runs in that inning and we were back in the game.
The game was close the entire time. They only play 7 innings and it was the top of the 7th and Marquette scored some more. Everyone was dying! After Marquette was done and it was the bottom of the 7th the score was Marquette 8, MCW 7.
The place was crazy intense. Some kid on Jake's team was on second and a girl was on first. Well, there was a hit but the guy on second didn't go which gave them a forced out because the girl on first had to run. Nobody was pleased at all with him. This gave Marquette 1 out. Only 2 to go. Then the next batter hit and the same dude that didn't run the first time finally did but then he ran outside of the line to the base and got himself out!!! Seriously, I don't know if he had ever played baseball before but it was horrific to watch. Now there were 2 outs!!!! And we still hadn't scored.
Jake was next to bat. Everyone was at the edge of their seats. I was sweating I was so nervous for him. Here comes the pitch....Jake takes a swing....and BAM!!!! The ball goes straight in to the sky, as you an tell by the picture. Everyone is slowly creeping to the very edge of their seat watching with anticipation as the ball is still flying in the air. It is still going....and going....it's out of the park!!!!!!!!! HOME RUN!!!!!!! We all jump out of our seats and cheer like we were at the world series. It was incredible!
Jake did it!!!! We had 2 people on base so that gave us 3 points. The end score was Marquette 8, MCW 10. I couldn't even believe it.
Jake was definitely the MVP of the game. It was so fun to watch as he was heading to home plate, the entire team was there and hoisted him up on their shoulders. There was screaming everywhere!!!!
After they all calmed down they presented MCW with the trophy. Isn't she a beauty?
The funniest part of all of this was when a couple of the Doc's were joking with Jake and said because he won the game for them he could have any residency he wanted. I asked Jake if he got that in writing. Of course they were all kidding but wouldn't that be cool?
After the game Jake attended the Brewer's vs. Dodger's game, the Dodger's are his favorite team. And the Brewer's won! It was a good day here in Milwaukee. Can't wait till next year's game!
