I haven't been to Hardware Ranch for about 15 years!!!! Can I even say that? My parents had the idea. They thought it would be fun for the boys.
So we skipped naps and headed up.
We didn't really skip naps, the boys slept in the car on the ride up. I didn't realize how far away it was. I rode up with my brother Eric and we kept saying, "gosh, this is far."
Once we got up there though, the view was amazing!!! I love the taste of the fresh outdoors. That cool crisp air hitting your face. Oh, I miss Utah!Once we finally got up there the boys were ready to go. We got them all bundled up. Lukie looked like Randy on the "Christmas Story." You know, "I can't put my arms down." Needless to say, he was plenty warm.
The elk were amazing! I can't believe how use to humans they are. They were literally in arms reach away.
The horses that took us up on the hay ride were beautiful! I was sad they hadn't put their sleigh's out yet. I thought for sure there was enough snow to have them.
Another thing I thought was different was how far up we went. I remember as a child we went so far. I felt like we barely went anywhere. I'm guessing it seemed so big because I was so little. Nolan was funny because as the guide was telling us about the Ranch Nolan kept saying, "wanna go......wanna see more elk." It made us all chuckleI took a bazillion pictures, as usual. I seemed to do that quite often and I have a hard time not putting all of them on the blog. I just would rather look at pictures then explain myself in words. And besides, don't you think we all tend to overtake pictures at every event or cute little thing our kids do? I mean really.
The afternoon was perfect! After we had our time on the horse ride we headed back down to Ogden for some "Kirt's Drive-in." Oh, that place is delicious!!!!
My friends and I in high school would go and get a corn dog from there multiple times a week. Okay, it was just me and Joni that did but it was sooooo goood!Once we got to Kirt's Nolan and Luke were playing on the booth we were going to eat at. Well, Nolan, being the ever so nice brother, pushed Lukie off the bench before I could catch him and gave him a black eye! The day before his 1st Birthday. Happy Birthday Luke! Geeze kid. Nolan is so mean to Luke sometimes. Hopefully it will make Luke a tough little kid. And someday, Nolan will get his.
The trip was fun and a memory that will last forever. I truly enjoy these moments with my kids and family.
We did it! The year of walking!
