"Trick-or-treat, trick-or-treat. Gimmie something good to eat!" That's right my friends. This was our very first door-to-door outing.
Nolan loved it!!! Luke was probably freezing but he didn't make a peep!
It was so much fun to walk around to all the houses. Our friends the Egbert's had us over for some chili and then told us we could do trick-or-treating around their neighborhood. I'm so glad they told us about it! They live in a darling neighborhood. The whole street was blocked off and almost every house made itself into a haunted house!!!! So cute!
So lets back up. We started the night off with some delicious chili and bread sticks. Thanks Tiff. Then we got the kids all lined up to take their picture. They were so excited it was hard to get them all looking at the camera.
After we got their picture, it was time to put their huge coats over their cute costumes because it was so cold! I think that is so funny how you spend all this time and money on costumes only to cover them up. Aww well.
Nolan was definitely not as good as the other more experienced trick-or-treaters. He was always the last one to get the candy and last one to leave the porch. Mostly because he was staring at all the decorations. People out here really go all out. It is totally how I imagined it would be in the movies. The sidewalks were literally covered with leaves. The best thing about the whole night was two dads that were taking their kids around had a wagon. Now, this wagon wasn't for the kids to ride in...it was for their cooler of beer! That is so Wisconsin for you. Jake and I just laughed.
At almost every home Nolan picked out a sucker. Bug! I wanted some good candy. I will be training him good next year.
I think Halloween could very well be one of my favorite holidays. Now that I have kids that really enjoy it, it makes it fun. I can't wait till we can get a home and I can decorate it all festive and have lots of little kids come and see how scary it is. And we will have good candy. No doubt.
I was so proud of my boys. They didn't have one tantrum the whole time we did our trick-or-treating. But dinner. That was a whole different story. I was so embarrassed. Nolan was a naughty little boy. I always wonder why people still invite us over. I really do try to teach my child but he is one stubborn little boy. Hmmm, I wonder where he gets that from?
Well, this Halloween was one for the books. Nolan and Luke's first outdoor trick-or-treating!!! So fun. Can't wait till next year.
We did it! The year of walking!
