I don't think many people know but I was put in to the Young Women's back in February. I was completely shocked and felt totally under qualified when the Bishop came to my house to tell me. One of my first reactions was, why are they putting me in to this? I just had a baby and hadn't even been to church yet with him. My second reaction was, I'm only 25!!! Honestly there has got to be someone else that can magnify this calling. My third reaction was breaking in to a cold sweat. Total doubt filled my mind. I can't do this. But my wonderful Bishop, along with my amazing husband, reassured me that the Lord wanted me to be in this calling. So lo and behold, I'm in. Let me just say that it has been a complete joy since day one.
I don't know completely why the Lord has given me this calling yet but I know that I love my girls so much! I have been blessed with picking four wonderful ladies to enjoy the ride with me. I know that my counselors are my rock in this calling. They have the best ideas and each of them have a great part in being friends and mentors to the girls.
We had the opportunity to go to the Chicago Temple on Tuesday night to do baptisms for the dead. Wow! I haven't done that since I was probably a beehive. What an awesome experience!!! The girls were so excited and did a fantastic job. It was so fun to ride down with them and get to know them a little bit better. They have so much spunk in them! The first half of the ride they taught me and Sis Merkley a bunch of camp songs. They have some Wisconsin originals. Can't wait for camp!!!
In all honesty I love my calling!!! It is a lot of work! Really! But so rewarding. With the small amount of time I have been in the Young Women's, I have grown a greater appreciation for my leaders and all the work they put in to it and me. I'm so lucky to be with these amazing girls! I love the Young Women of Milwaukee!
We did it! The year of walking!
