What a day we had on the 4th. First thing we did on our list was head over to the Parade. It was such a cute little parade. I loved how hometown it felt. We were at the very end and they still had candy for all the kids. It was great to watch them. People really get in to the holiday spirit out here. Nolan loved the cars and all the motorcycles. My favorite part of the parade was the old men in these mini vw bugs. They were like go carts. Loved it!
After the Parade we headed over to the ward party. So much fun! We went to a members house and they had a pool, which was freezing. The food was amazing and the company even better. Nolan had a great time. He loved the blow up ball in the water.
After Nolan took a nap we got ready for our "cul-de-sac of fire." Oh, let me explain Nolan in the pool. We bought him a cute little aligator pool about a week ago and we set it up in the morning so the water could heat up. Nolan loves it! While I was inside getting everything ready Jake was watching Nolan. Yeah, not really because Nolan got in the pool fully clothed! I was so bugged, don't ask me why, that he had all his clothes on because I wanted to get a family picture. But who could resist that cute and excited face just playing in the warm water.
The "cul-de-sac of fire was so much fun. We had some more great food and we attempted to light some fireworks. The sparklers were so smoky and I was downwind, thus the picture. I was so sad that fireworks are illegal in Milwaukee. But our friends tried to light them anyway. It didn't last very long because we have a very cranky old lady that lives above us who called the cops on us twice. Nobody got a fine, thank goodness because it would have been $1000, but it sure ruined the fun. Later after everyone went to bed Jake and I heard the old lady venting to the other tenants about how we are all, "educated idiots and good for nothin." She was so mad. Jake and I got a good laugh out of it. The fourth was a great day and we had so much fun.
We did it! The year of walking!
